The first joint case of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, which became the beginning of exciting adventures without which many generations of detective enthusiasts cannot imagine their lives. Barely acquainted, the great detective and his faithful companion are forced to investigate mysterious murders, the threads of which lead to distant America many years ago... The story is adapted using Ilya Frank's method: it is equipped with a literal translation into Russian and necessary lexical-grammatical commentary (without simplifying the original text). The uniqueness of the method lies in the fact that memorizing words and expressions occurs through their repetition, without rote learning and the need to use a dictionary. Moreover, the reader becomes accustomed to the logic of the English language and begins to 'feel' it. The guide contributes to the effective mastery of the language and can serve as a supplement to the educational program.
