The remote Bjornstad - Bear City - is lost in the northern Swedish wilderness: beyond it lies only impenetrable forests. Once, life thrived here, but now unemployment and despair reign. The last hope of the residents is the local junior hockey club, which once took second place in the national championship. Hockey in Bjornstad is not just a sport: serious passions are ignited around it, all interests are tied to it, and it determines how the fates will unfold.
The victory day in the quarterfinal match became the happiest for the city, the club's management, and the team, as well as for its seventeen-year-old captain, Kevin Erdal. But for fifteen-year-old Maya Erikson and her parents, it was a terrible day that turned their lives upside down...
