American author Hanya Yanagihara has created an unusual novel where both the terrible and the joyful are spoken about without excessive pathos and sentimentality. Four friends - talented architect Malcolm, aspiring actor Willem, self-assured artist JB, and brilliant lawyer and mathematician Jude - try to succeed in New York, but it turns out that neither career, nor money, nor fame can cope with the past if it is stronger than life...
The book contains strong language.
About the author:
Hanya Yanagihara was born in Los Angeles in 1974. She graduated from Smith College, a private independent liberal arts college for women located in Massachusetts, and moved to New York, where she initially worked as a public relations agent before transitioning to Conde Nast Traveler magazine. After a while, Yanagihara became an editor, and in 2015 she moved to T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and later, after the success of “A Little Life”, left that position as well.
