Snow, Covering the Tracks. Japanese Tales, Kind and Scary

The collection includes 18 Japanese folk tales: the first part presents kind, "soul-warming" stories, and the second part - scary legends. The heroes of the tales - peasants, merchants, monks, samurais - believe in miracles, display ingenuity, kindness, and courage. They often face dangers, threatening their lives with encounters with witches and werewolves. But animals, gods, and nature spirits come to the heroes' aid; cruelty and greed receive their deserved punishment, while bravery and generosity are rewarded.
The book contains the original texts of the tales in Japanese and their artistic translations into Russian. Lexico-grammatical comments and exercises for reinforcing new vocabulary will help readers master common grammatical forms, enrich their vocabulary, and improve their reading skills of unadapted texts.
