Russian Proverbs and Sayings in Illustrations. History and Origin

This album is the first domestic experience of systematic understanding and visual representation of Russian proverbs and sayings, which constitute an integral part of the Russian language and culture. The significance of proverbs cannot be overestimated, as they embody the colossal experience accumulated by our ancestors over dozens and hundreds of centuries and cover almost all aspects of human life. Even a general acquaintance with Russian proverbs and sayings will not only enrich one's speech with unique linguistic turns but also provide a deeper understanding of the original, figurative-mystical perception of the world by our ancestors, connecting one to the unique cultural code of the Russian people. Each of the carefully collected proverbs and sayings by Petr Sklyar is accompanied by an author's illustration that reflects the multifaceted meaning of folk wisdom.
