Before the entire university, a potential student is burning. Friends struggle to cope with his death and deal with grief in different ways. Ernie Marino, another potential, experiences more frequent episodes: he sees around him the lost — burned potentials, turned into ghosts. Not wanting to harm his loved ones, Ernie distances himself from them and takes a part-time job at a coffee shop, where he meets a girl who knows nothing about him. The further this friendship develops, the more the question weighs on Ernie: who is he really?
