Women's professional opportunities were severely limited; it is also important to remember that traditional art history was written by men about men, focusing on revolutionary artists who changed everything. Professor Noah Charney clearly demonstrates that it was women who shaped the history of art from the Middle Ages to the present day. History has often been distorted, and it is time to acknowledge those who deserve much greater recognition.
