A Year with Penguins. The Incredible Life Next to Antarctic Emperors
Penguins have a bad publicist. They are said to hide their fat bodies in cliffs, or they need the help of human volunteers to lift them with their heads raised to the flying airplanes. Clumsy, funny, stupid. But that's only...
because it was convenient for people to film only in good weather, for several months a year. In reality, the fact that they survive and raise chicks at -60 degrees where no one else could survive is a miracle. For the first time, British filmmaker Lindsay MacRae managed to capture the full dramatic cycle of their lives by living almost a year at a polar station, making a documentary film for the BBC.
This book shows (including with the help of photos) the majestic emperor penguins from completely different angles. Touching and loyal pairs, caring parents, transitions of tens of kilometers in the polar night, teamwork to fight the terrible frost and wind, and almost childlike curiosity towards humans.
It is good that thanks to the latest breakthroughs in materials and video equipment, these birds have finally been able to wait for an objective story about themselves!
