Mushrooms from Yuggoth

“Mushrooms from Yuggoth” connects almost all of Lovecraft's work within his “Yog-Sothothery” (“Cthulhu Mythos”), including what he wrote before this cycle of sonnets as well as the subsequent stories and novels. In an unusual poetic execution, the author takes us along with the lyrical hero from the discovery of a forbidden tome, through the Dreamlands and Other Worlds, to a successful return home; sometimes immersing us in an atmosphere of existential horror, sometimes romantically celebrating the beauty of the cosmos, and at times reflecting on life and warning us against reckless actions.

Many are familiar with Lovecraft's prose. But believe us, his poetry deserves no less attention! “Mushrooms from Yuggoth” is a cycle of 36 sonnets united by a common plot, which can be read in one breath. Capturing all the beauty of poetic forms without distorting the meaning is incredibly difficult, but we turned to the incredibly talented translator and poet A. I. Gastev, who already had experience in the artistic translation of the poetry of A. Tennyson, R. Kipling, J. Keats, C. Baudelaire, E. A. Poe, P. Verlaine, and other renowned authors, and he accepted this challenge. The result brought us incredible delight.

However, for absolute aesthetic perfection, visualization was lacking, so we turned to the talented artist L. Logvinenko, who brought to life the images from each sonnet with atmospheric illustrations.
