Raising Moral Responsibility in Children

Considering pedagogy not so much as a science but as an ethical system regulated by the deep values of truth, goodness, and beauty, Viktor Nikolayevich Soroka-Rosinsky (1882-1960) - Vikniksor from the famous novella by G. Belykh and L. Panteleev "The Republic of Shkid" - is dear and close to Russian teaching, especially now, when in the struggle against the deadening conservatism and authoritarianism in schools, humane pedagogical thinking is taking shape and developing.
The collection presents selected works of V. N. Soroka-Rosinsky, in which he reveals his main pedagogical principles: 

1) the democratic nature of education and learning; 

2) collective education taking into account the individuality of each student; 

3) the transition from coercion to the principle of voluntarism based on self-activity, self-governance, competitiveness, and self-criticism; 

4) turning any knowledge into action; 

5) the principle of play as a natural need of the growing organism in the organization of the entire life activity of students and learning.
