No Time

All normal people fear death: materialists are frightened by non-existence, idealists are afraid of the lack of a reliable guarantee of reaching paradise. For some, the fear of death even hinders living... As Epicurus taught: "Do not fear death: while you are alive, it is not there; when it comes, you will not be there." The main character of the story is not one of those simpletons who are comforted by such sophistry, but he is also not one of the panickers. However, he is already at an age when the proximity of death makes one reflect on what he has achieved in life and what he will leave behind. He is not the first to realize that, in the grand scheme of things, it is nothing... This would upset anyone, but events unfold that force one to look anew at both their own short life and the millennia-old history of humanity.
