There Is No Time

All normal people fear death: materialists are scared of non-existence, idealists - the lack of a reliable guarantee of going to heaven. For some, the fear of death even interferes with living… As Epicurus taught: “Do not fear death: while... you are alive, it is not here; when it comes, you will not be.” The main character of the story is not one of those simpletons whom such sophistry comforts, but he is not a panicker either. However, he is already at that age when the proximity of death makes one think about what he has achieved in life and what he will leave behind. He is not the first to realize that, in the grand scheme of things - nothing… This would upset anyone, but events occur that make one look at both his own short life and the millennia-long history of humanity in a new way.
