Young Genichka lives with her elderly aunt in a quiet secluded estate. They rarely have guests, and all their company consists of equally lonely neighbors.
Genichka loves to wander through the dark alleys, read books, and dream about life in the big city. She dreams of adventures, invents games, and does not at all mourn the monotony of days.
When the aunt finally decides to send her to the provincial city, Genichka realizes that she is too attached to this home. But ahead awaits a new life, where everyone will call her Evgeniya, address her formally, and disregard her feelings.
A life in which Genichka will have to fight for her own happiness.
"Away from the Big World" is a tender, delicate, yet at the same time very honest and serious coming-of-age novel about a young lady, her first love and initial experiences, as well as the choice that must be made on the threshold of adult life.
