The Philosophy of Meaning, or Meaning Must Be

The problem of meaning, understandable to contemporary philosophy, is posed and resolved within the framework of a textual approach using the possibilities provided by the experience of historical-philosophical research and philosophical oriental studies. From the reconstruction of the foundations of philosophical textology, the author moves on to analyze the futility of theoretical attempts to solve the problem of meaning, after which he will provide its practical interpretation. Practical philosophy is the only adequate context for posing and solving the problem of meaning, and it has clear deontological implications.
The analysis of the problem of meaning in contemporary European philosophy and the study of non-European philosophical texts prompts questions about the pathways of meaning-making in Russian philosophical culture. The holistic nature of this problem and the peculiarities of its expression through the means of the Russian language allow for the assertion of the incompleteness of the translatability of the concept "meaning" into other languages. The author suggests the term Smysl as a sign of untranslatability.
