Practical philosophy is the only adequate context for posing and solving the problem of meaning, and it has clear deontological implications. The analysis of the problem of meaning in contemporary European philosophy and the study of non-European philosophical texts prompts questions about the pathways of meaning-making in Russian philosophical culture. The holistic nature of this problem and the peculiarities of its expression through the means of the Russian language allow for the assertion of the incompleteness of the translatability of the concept "meaning" into other languages. The author suggests the term Smysl as a sign of untranslatability. The book is addressed to anyone engaged in philosophical research and interested in philosophical problems.
