Nadezhda Lokhvitskaya 1872–1952, known to everyone by the pseudonym Teffi, was called the "queen of humor" by her contemporaries. She was admired by everyone from Nicholas II to Lenin, and her cheerful and ironic stories and feuilletons, with their witty... observations of life and hints of sadness, were highly valued. Having survived three revolutions and two world wars, and finding herself in emigration in the 1920s, she preserved in her "short prose" the immediacy, lightness, and ability to laugh at ordinary everyday situations, while bringing a philosophical character to her memoirs. In Russian Paris, Teffi was one of the favorite writers. There she created "Memoirs," as well as essays, in the pages of which A. Kuprin, A. Tolstoy, A. Averchenko, A. Akhmatova, N. Gumilev, S. Yesenin, V. Rozanov, G. Rasputin, A. Kollontai, and many others come to life. She wanted to create a book from them called "My Chronicle," but she herself did not have time to gather it.
