Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language

In the famous dictionary of Vladimir Ivanovich Dahl, the vocabulary of the Russian language is presented in all its diversity. Many articles contain proverbs, sayings, and excerpts from folk songs as examples. This edition is a shortened version of the... dictionary, which in its full form contains more than 200 thousand words, not counting the examples of usage and samples of oral folk creativity. This book includes words that can be found in Russian classical literature; familiar words that had different meanings during Dahl's time; as well as part of the vocabulary describing historical realities. The text is reproduced in modern orthography, but with the preservation of the main features of the author's punctuation. The edition is intended for everyone interested in the history of the Russian language.
