Pavel Petrovich Bazhov entered the history of Russian literature as the author of stories based on Ural folklore. The stories are author's fairy tales that imitate ancient oral traditions of Ural workers and are based on regional material. The most... famous collection by the author is «The Malachite Box», which features stories of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, Danila the Master, and others. Bazhov combined magical plots with tales of the real life of Ural miners. Today, due to the archaic Russian language with rare regionalisms, it is difficult for young people to perceive these stories, so the authors of the graphic novel decided to present the works of the writer in a new form. The book consists of three parts: the biography of Bazhov, the stories from «The Malachite Box», and fanfics - short «Bazhov-esque» humorous and surreal stories. At the end of the book, readers will find additional materials and sketches by artists. Most of the stories were written by Georgy Grigoriev, a research fellow at the Pavel Petrovich Bazhov Museum, while 21 comic artists from all over Russia worked on the visual part. Most illustrations are strict, set against a black background, but there are also very joyful ones, such as manga done in yellow paint. The drawings are diverse, making the comic absolutely not monotonous. The graphic novel-encyclopedia is based on the biography and works of the folklorist writer Pavel Petrovich Bazhov. 21 artists from all over Russia worked on the comic.
