Pavel Petrovich Bazhov entered the history of Russian literature as the author of tales based on Ural folklore. Tales are authorial fairy tales that imitate ancient oral traditions of Ural workers and are based on local lore. The most famous... collection by the author is «The Malachite Box», which features stories about the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, Danila the Master, and others. Bazhov combined magical plots with stories about the real life of Ural miners. Today, due to the archaic Russian language with rare regionalisms, it is difficult for the youth to perceive these tales, which is why the authors of the graphic novel decided to present the writer's works in a new form. The book consists of three parts: Bazhov's biography, tales from the «Malachite Box», and fan fiction - short «Bazhov-like» humorous and surreal stories. At the end of the book, readers will find additional materials and sketches by the artists. Most of the stories were written by Georgy Grigoryev, a research associate at the Pavel Petrovich Bazhov Museum, while the visual part was created by 21 comic artists from all over Russia. Most of the illustrations are strict, on a black background, but there are also very cheerful ones, such as manga done in yellow paint. The drawings are diverse, making the comic completely non-monotonous. A graphic novel-encyclopedia based on the biography and works of folklore writer Pavel Petrovich Bazhov. 21 artists from all over Russia worked on the comic.
