American physicist Richard Feynman – one of the greatest scientists of the 20th century, Nobel Prize winner in Physics.
At one time, the instructors at the California Institute of Technology pondered how to restructure the physics course to make it more engaging and modern. Richard Feynman enthusiastically picked up this idea and agreed to deliver an author's two-year course of lectures on general physics, but only once. The university, for which this event became historical, organized the recording of the lectures, and then a team of physicists prepared a multi-volume edition that is still considered one of the best introductory courses in physics.
