Steam Park is the Russian edition of the game Steam Park.
Players will compete in building amusement parks.
The goal of the game: to build the most profitable park and earn as much money as possible. During the game, players build rides and stalls in their parks, attract visitors, clean up litter, and complete special tasks. Income comes from visitors and fulfilling tasks from special bonus cards. At the same time, litter in the park reduces the amount of money. The game is extensive, and this is its undeniable advantage.
Each player has their own board where they place three-dimensional attractions and stalls during the game. Visitor figurines are placed on the attractions. Before the first game, the rides and stalls need to be assembled (consist of 3-2 cardboard pieces). Inside the box, there is a special compartment for storing the rides, so they won’t need to be disassembled. Before the game starts, each player receives a field for construction (a small 4x4 board, which can be expanded during the game), 6 special dice, a pig card, and 3 bonus task cards. A game consists of 6 rounds. Each round consists of 4 phases.
1. Dice Rolls. Players simultaneously roll their dice, trying to "get out" the desired faces (the images on the faces of the dice determine what actions the player can take later). Players can roll any number of times. The desired result must be placed on the pig card, and the remaining dice can be re-rolled. Once all the player's dice are on the pig, they can take a turn order token. The player who rolls last can make only 3 more rolls.
2. Park Pollution. Players count the amount of trash in their park and receive the corresponding number of dirt tokens. Dirt points are given for each visitor on attractions, for garbage symbols on rolled dice, for garbage symbols on the turn order token (in the case of the first players, trash is subtracted, and for the last player, it is added, so it is more profitable to roll the dice faster). At the end of the game, dirt points reduce the amount of money earned.
3. Performing actions shown on the dice. Each die has 5 faces with images that determine actions, and 1 face is blank. According to the images shown on the faces, players can:
- Build an attraction (tool image on the die). Rides in the game are of 3 types: 1, 2, 3 - level in 6 colors. To build them, you need the respective number of tools shown on the dice. One visitor can be invited to a small ride, 2 to a medium, and 3 to a large one. When placing attractions, the following rules must be observed: rides of different colors cannot touch, there must be a passage between them. And rides of the same color are built next to each other.
- Build a stall. There are 5 types of stalls in the game (security, information, advertising, restroom), each provides additional abilities to the player: flip one die to the desired face, double the symbols of people or brushes on one die ...
- Invite visitors (people figure on the die). Visitor figures are drawn from a bag blindly. Before that, the player must put in the bag as many figures as they rolled on the dice (initially, there is already 1 figure of each color in the bag). Then the player can draw the same number of figures. However, they can only place figures on their attraction whose color matches that attraction.
- Clean the park (brushes on the die). For each brush symbol on the dice, a dirt token can be discarded. - Play one of their bonus task cards and earn additional income. The card states the conditions that must be fulfilled; the better the condition is fulfilled, the more points the player receives. Examples of conditions: the number of blue visitors in the park, the number of tools rolled in this round... If a player played cards, they replenish their cards to 3 at the end of the round.
- Expand the park. To do this, any die with any image can be used. The park expands using 2x2 tiles. In one round, a maximum of 2 expansion tiles can be taken. 4. Receiving Income. For each visitor in the park, the player earns 3 points. The game lasts for 6 rounds. After which, players tally their money, deduct penalties for accumulated trash, and receive their final income. The player with the highest income wins. The authors also offer a simplified version of the game - "for beginners". In this version, the properties of stalls are not used.
Steam Park is an engaging, uncomplicated game. The time for one game is about 60 minutes. It should appeal to both children and adults.
The game requires both calculation and speed (when rolling dice), as well as luck. The artist of the game: Marie Cardouat. She is known to many board game enthusiasts for her illustrations in the early editions of Dixit.
