The depth and brevity of the "Jaimini Sutras" have inspired the highest admiration from all readers for five millennia. "Jyotish" means "That which gives and feels Light." These sutras are pure vision of the Vedas. Among the Vedic sciences, Jyotish is the most important, as Jyotish is the science of All-Knowledge, i.e., Knowledge that answers any question.
We want to shed Light on all events of the past, present, and especially the future -- what other Vedic science can give people such an opportunity, such Knowledge? Where did I come from in this World and why? What is my Purpose? What are my strengths and what are my weaknesses? What successes and failures will occur in the current incarnation? What sensations, actions, and aspirations will I have in life? How far will I go in achieving my goals, by what path will I travel? How do the Grahas [Forces of Life, "planets"] influence me, where are they leading me? How can I fill my life with Light, preventing negativity and enhancing happiness? These and other questions are relevant to all people, and Jyotish [Vedic astrology] provides the keys to answers. These questions are undoubtedly very important. The questions listed are the main topics of Jyotish and can be answered by its means.
One should not think that accurately translating the "Jaimini Sutras" is a simple task. The essence and meaning of one short sutra [Shloka] can sometimes correspond to a thick printed work: the English or Russian language is not suitable for creating sutras, and even less so for expressing the content of sutras in concise and short expressions; only Sanskrit is suitable.
These sutras are profound, systematic, and unique in their content. They contain a tremendous amount of knowledge, presented by Maharishi Jaimini in the most concise form for the benefit of all people in the world; he states this explicitly. At the end of the sutras, the author notes that everything written is completely accurate, as this truth was given by earlier Maharishis: Pitamaha (Brahma), Vyasa, Parashara, Vashistha, Gargya, Bhrigu, Surya, Chandra, Brihaspati, Shukra, Marichi, Palaha, Pulisa, Maya, and other outstanding scholars (pandits). The indications about various Bhavas [houses], Rashi [signs], and Grahas [planets] will initially seem confusing, but with practice, the characteristics of this approach to Vedic astrology will unfold and allow one to look into the birth chart as Jaimini explained. He provided various lagnas: Hora-lagna, Ghatika-lagna, Upapada-lagna, Varada-lagna, and so on. His dashas [life periods] are mainly based on rashis [signs of the sidereal zodiac] and navamshas [rashi/bhava in the Navamsha chart]. The influence of Brahma, Rudra, and Maheshwara is explained in these sutras.
Two adhyayas [chapters] of this book variant are self-sufficient and valuable for those studying astrology. The mastery with which Jaimini explained the rules of Vedic astrology will undoubtedly help one gain knowledge in this field.
Sutras can only be written in Sanskrit. There are "Brahma Sutras" or "Uttara Mimamsa" of Vyasa, "Jaimini Sutras" or "Purva Mimamsa", "Grihya Sutras", "Vyakarana Sutras", and other sutras on various branches of knowledge written by ancient Maharishis. Such diversity of sutras is possible thanks to Sanskrit. There are no similar sutras in any other language.
