Death's Clock

The golden age of the detective novel gifted us many star names. The works of authors such as Agatha Christie, Gilbert Chesterton, Earl Stanley Gardner, and Rex Stout developed and perfected the detective genre; their novels, unequivocally recognized as classics, are still beloved by readers today and serve as a standard of quality for subsequent generations of detective story authors. A prominent place in this constellation rightfully belongs to John Dickson Carr (1906–1977) — a virtuoso master of perfectly constructed "impossible crimes in a locked room."
In 1933, in the novel "The Witch's Coven," John Dickson Carr first introduced the amateur sleuth Dr. Gideon Fell to the public. "Death's Clock" (1935) is the fifth novel about the adventures of the ingenious detective.
If you ask Dr. Fell about the strangest crimes he has had to investigate, he will inevitably recall the mysterious case of "Death's Clock."
