"The Word about the Apocalypse" is the main work of the Russian religious figure and one of the organizers of the Religious-Philosophical Assemblies of 1901-1903, thinker Valentin Alexandrovich Ternavtsev (1866-1940). Ternavtsev's book resonates with the book of the apostle John...
the Theologian; the author finely senses the spiritual structure of the apostle, closely examining his arrangement and personality type. Ternavtsev's work is characterized by sincerity, thoughtful, one might say, loving contemplation of the image of John the Theologian and his visions. Ternavtsev follows the apostle without attempting to literally perceive the grotesque images of his book (such as locusts with human heads), or to focus on images of evil. He is not interested in the mysterious numerology of the number of the beast or the image of the harlot sitting on many waters. He focuses on the "prologue in Heaven," on the image of Christ Himself, angels, and heavenly good forces. Since Ternavtsev adhered to chiliasm, believing in the coming victory of good not only in the afterlife but also in earthly reality, he paid great attention to the promises of the Apocalypse regarding the thousand-year reign of the saints on earth with Christ. The book is published for the first time and is addressed to philosophers, theologians, and interested erudite readers.
