Mahabharata

"Mahabharata" ("The Tale of the Great Battle of the Descendants of Bharata") is the greatest monument of ancient Indian heroic epic. Indian tradition holds that the "Mahabharata" is a single work created by the sage Vyasa, who is revered as... the compiler of the Vedas and Puranas. The Mahabharata contains about 100,000 shlokas (couplets), exceeding the volume of the "Odyssey" and the "Iliad" combined. A complete translation of the ancient Indian epic into Russian is a matter of distant future.
