with the rank of major general). For many years he was a professor at Munich University, founded the German Institute of Geopolitics and the "Journal of Geopolitics". Developing the views of Ratzel, Chellen, Mackinder and Bismarck’s idea of a Russo-German alliance, the author developed a peculiar version of Eurasianism – a military-geopolitical doctrine of the “Continental Bloc (Alliance)”, which was to unite the states of Eurasia in opposition to the Anglo-Saxon world. In this doctrine, Haushofer introduced the concept of Lebensraum - "living space", which became the official doctrine of the Third Reich. At the same time, Karl Haushofer himself did not share the views of the Nazi leadership of Germany and even ended up in the Dachau concentration camp for his beliefs.
