The Psychology of Eastern Religion

Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961) – a Swiss psychologist, psychotherapist, philosopher, sociologist, and cultural scientist – was one of the outstanding scholars of the 20th century, a student of Sigmund Freud, the founder of analytical psychology and psychotherapy, and the founder and president of the Swiss Society for Practical Psychology. The religious issues have always been an important component of Jung's research. In this collection, the author explores the psychological aspects of the philosophy of various schools of Buddhism and Hinduism, including based on the Tibetan 'Book of Great Liberation', discusses the reasons for the popularity of yoga in the West, compares the understanding of ideas of freedom and holiness in Eastern and Western traditions, and examines the psychology of Eastern meditation.
