Igor Viktorovich Dolgopolov (1917–1991) — honored artist of the RSFSR, art historian, writer, educator, chief artist of the most popular magazine in the Soviet era, "Ogon'ek." A student of A. Deineka, he was a personality truly on the scale of Giorgio Vasari, a man who spent his life creating a unified image of world art. His essays on great creators, later compiled into the book "Masters and Masterpieces," were published in huge editions during the author's lifetime. Written in a light style, with incredible intuition and genuine talent, they represented captivating stories that vividly revealed the characters and creative manner of the artists, detailing their world-famous canvases. In this book, the reader will encounter impressionists, as well as their precursors and followers.
