Dark Alleys

«The last classic of Russian literature» Ivan Bunin (1870 – 1953) considered the cycle of stories «Dark Alleys» his best work. Enchanted by the mystery of female characters and their actions, he created a whole gallery of immortal images. At the center of his narrative are the fates and experiences of completely different main heroines. Here there is both the first tender love, a fleeting road infatuation, betrayal, rape, and, of course, reflections on life and death, native nature and Russian idyll, lost somewhere at the turn of the 20th century.
