Notes of a Midwife. A Heavy Burden

What can a woman do if her last name means "danger"? No, not a police officer or a special agent. She is a midwife.

Lia Hazard did not immediately settle on her choice of profession, but after a successful marriage and the birth of two daughters, she decided to become a midwife. Initially naively thinking that she would delight in the birth of new life with her patients, care for the cheerful and content future mothers, and then dote on their chubby babies, she quickly realized that the work of a midwife is far from this idyllic picture.
Deliveries happen in various ways. Emergencies arise constantly. Maternity wards are understaffed, midwives are always overworked and sleep-deprived, they bear enormous responsibility, and many do not endure. However, the author is not one of them.
She comes to the aid in the most difficult situations. She tries to do everything in her power. She sincerely empathizes with her patients, which often causes her suffering, but she has not yet managed to develop a shell of indifference that would be very useful in her job.
