After what happened to Toji, Shinji refuses to pilot the Evangelion and tries to leave Neo-Tokyo-3. But another Angel attacks, and the arriving Kaji takes the boy to a shelter. He tells him about the terrible price a man paid... to survive after the Second Impact, and the deadly threat the Angels pose to humanity. Shocked by what he hears, Shinji manages to return to NERV, and Eva-01 intercepts the Angel that has already penetrated into the Geofront.
