The first 15CV was released in 1938, but production was halted during the war.
At that time, the shape of the car divided buyers into two groups. One succumbed to the elegance of the body, while the other condemned it, and...
there was nothing in between. Eventually, the shapes of Citroen proved timeless, and production continued until 1957.
Citröen 15CV returned in 1954 with the SIX D version, which was equipped with a new engine, but more importantly, with hydropneumatic suspension, which this car received as the world's first production car.
The reason this version was designated as «D» is simple. For the first time in Citröen, the new engine was turned to the right, that is, á Droite = to the right.
If you have a convertible Citröen SIX D, you are a very wealthy person. Only one was ever made.
Several presidential special editions were also built.
A total of 43,694 units were released in several versions.
Besides France, cars were also produced in Cologne, Slough, UK, Vorst, Belgium, and Copenhagen, Denmark.
