Fifteen-Year-Old Captain = Dick Sand: A Captain at Fifteen

Jules Verne's novel «Fifteen-Year-Old Captain», published in 1878, is somewhat different from all the author's other works — it contains neither mysticism nor ahead-of-its-time inventions. It depicts Africa as it appeared to explorers. It is there, due to the treacherous Negoro, that Dick Sand, a fifteen-year-old captain, finds himself — forced to take the helm after a tragic incident claimed the lives of the captain and all the sailors. And now he faces a challenging task — to bring the survivors home.
