When Astrid Baros turned ten, she decided that she did not want to grow up: "People grow, but their hearts shrink, and there is less room there". Mom now has a new boyfriend, Dad has a new girlfriend, and Astrid is forced to live in two homes, like a shift worker in the North Sea. Her parents have become completely strangers and seem to have stopped hearing her.
Astrid, who plays the role of Pippi Longstocking in the school play, is not used to backing down in the face of difficulties. She carefully devises a plan of action. The parents need to be made to worry a little. For example, to go alone to a well-known island in Sweden and turn off her phone. Of course, they will come for her, and they will be able to talk. And maybe - what the devil, why not? - they will make up and live together again.
But even a genius plan is not immune to surprises. As she gets into the boat, Astrid does not yet suspect that the island is actually not uninhabited and that her family will soon find themselves in the center of a detective story.
The heroes of Norwegian writer and musician Levi Henriksen (born in 1964) flee from the city to the wilderness, to nature, where, thanks to resilience and persistence, they find hidden strengths within themselves. Astrid is a girl whose courage and resourcefulness one can only envy. The story "Angel from Devil's Island" is reminiscent of the film "Moonrise Kingdom" and will appeal to everyone who loves adventures.
