Board Game - Codenames

"Codenames" is the #1 party game in the world that will keep even the most finicky company entertained. It is a great workout for the brain. At the same time elegant and light, puzzling and simple – it will provide many exciting games with friends, family, and even random acquaintances! 

The game relies on imagination, memory, and the ability to understand each other. In "Codenames," you can play with two people or a large group.  

In the latter case, players split into two teams, each with a captain. 

The team captains give a word that ties together several cards on the table by meaning, and their team members must guess which cards these are. Each agent has a code name, which is what the captains must come up with associations for. But everything is complicated by the fact that the agent cards are divided into 'own' and 'opponent' (only this is a secret for everyone except the captains), and you can only guess your own, otherwise the turn will pass to the opposing team. Captains cannot give hints to their friends, or they'll incur a penalty.  

How to play?
Captains sit opposite their teams, and a key card indicating which team each agent belongs to is placed in front of them. Thanks to this key, the captains know the secret identities of 25 agents, and their teams do not. On their turn, the captain gives a clue consisting of one word that links several cards on the field, along with a number indicating how many words they've connected. Players try to guess their team's words while being careful of cards belonging to the opponents. And everyone wants to avoid encountering the assassin, who is also on the field.

Teams take turns. As soon as one team makes a mistake or exhausts their number of clues, the turn passes to the other team.

After the clue, there is a lively discussion of possible options. This is where the fun starts. The game transforms into a thrilling guessing of associations, which turn out to be quite unexpected. Such fun is familiar to those who have played Dixit or Mysterium at least once, but even if you consider yourself a serious player and not a fan of party games, we assure you, Codenames will pleasantly surprise you. When teams are ready to give their verdict, one of the participants touches the chosen code name on the table, and then...

- if the guess is correct, the captain covers the code word with an agent card of the corresponding color, and the team can continue guessing;
- if the chosen code word is a card from another team, the captain covers it with an agent card from that other team, and the turn passes;
- if the chosen character is a civilian, it is covered with the corresponding card, and the other team continues the game;
- but if the player touches the assassin card, the game ends, and the team loses!
Tip: avoid clues related to the assassin!
