The souls of your investigators are begging for new investigations? Or are you one of those Keepers who prefer to have many stories? In any case, this book is eager to be in your hands. Do not resist its call...
"Mansions of Madness. Behind Closed Doors" – is a collection of 5 scenarios for your group of investigators. 2 of them have already become classics, but have been completely updated and refined, while the other 3 you have never encountered before. Each of them is standalone and tells its own story of the strange and unexplainable. But if you wish, you can easily combine them into one campaign. So the scenarios awaiting you are:
- Mr. Corbitt: the story of a modest gentleman, but as they say, demons dwell in quiet waters...
- The Crooked House: the townspeople prefer to avoid the old Fitzgerald house. And not without reason: the new owner of the house disappears without a trace
- The Secret Code: Dr. Kenneth Connolly urgently calls the investigators. The reason for urgency – unexplainable phenomena in the Wellington estate
- The House of Memphis: the world-famous illusionist has been missing for more than three weeks. Did he go in search of inspiration for new performances or was it a mysterious disappearance?
- The Nineteenth Hole: repair work at the Scottish golf club is not going as planned
How to play?
"Call of Cthulhu" – is a role-playing game where the plot is created by the players themselves as they play the roles of characters according to predefined rules. And to ensure that you don’t start neglecting these rules while getting engrossed in the gameplay, a special player known as the Keeper or Game Master oversees compliance with them. He weaves the players' decisions into the fabric of the overall story, devises the environment, and the actions of opponents. Role-playing games can be completely verbal or may use miniatures of characters and environments to immerse players deeper into the world of fantasy.
Traditionally, the probability of success in actions in "Call of Cthulhu" is determined by rolling dice: in different situations, players must score a different number of points for a successful outcome. It's important to monitor your character's mental health, as the human mind does not always withstand encounters with the supernatural, and the game is filled with ancient magic and cruel demons.
Who won?
In "Call of Cthulhu," as in other role-playing games, there is no clear goal of scoring the most points or killing the most monsters. Throughout the game, you will play the role of ordinary people: police detectives, historian scholars, journalists who confront ancient evils. During the game, your character may very well die or go insane, after which you can create an entirely new hero and step into a new role. The main thing is to get vivid sensations from the game, experiencing thrilling adventures in a friendly company.
Attention! A copy of the "Call of Cthulhu: Keeper's Book" or "Call of Cthulhu. Starter Set", a pencil, and a set of dice are required.
