Under the pseudonym A. Miré hides a woman of amazing and tragic fate. Losing herself in the decadent evenings of Paris, she was sold by her lover to a brothel. Having returned to Russia with great difficulty, she found a... beloved through a newspaper ad. The marriage turned out to be short-lived, which plunged Miré into even greater despair and brought her closer to another crisis that landed her in a psychiatric hospital. Miré died alone in a hospital ward, and her contemporary writers only learned of her death several weeks later. Despite all the twists of fate, Miré challenged difficulties both in life and in creativity. In this edition, under one cover, stories from two published collections during A. Miré's lifetime - "Life" (1904) and "Black Panther" (1909) - are gathered, along with selected stories outside the collections that most vividly illustrate the author's delicate style. Miré's stories are fleeting scenes from ordinary life, endowed with the author's sensitivity, a gothic aura, and philosophical subtext.
