The streets of Kaliningrad are restless. Someone is killing a representative of the magical circle that was created to contain an anomaly, the source of magic, from spreading.
The magical threads divide the city into four districts - the October district is inhabited by sorcerers. The Central district has always belonged to ghouls. The Leningrad district is home to dlikes, and the Moscow district is inhabited by the unclean.
A powerful sorceress is killed in Kaliningrad, and in order to maintain balance in the city, Alice and her colleague Dan set out to unravel the case. There are no traces of magic, and the only clue is a transmuted amber found in the victim's mouth. Soon, Mark, who possesses the gift of seeing the hidden, arrives in the city as a consultant. As the sorcerers delve deeper into the new investigation, they realize that the roots of what is happening lie in the distant past, and the criminal is far more dangerous than it initially seemed. The peaceful life of Kaliningrad is threatened by a great danger, and the heroes have less and less time to prevent the catastrophe.
