The Bookseller of Kabul

In early 2002, Norwegian journalist Åsne Seierstad settled in the home of an Afghan bookseller to write a book about him and his family – his wives, children, brothers, and other relatives. She spent the first spring in Kabul after the fall of the regime and wrote about everything she saw around her. The everyday life of this closed society became the focus of her attention. Seierstad tells the story of the difficult fate of Afghans and their hopes for a future that they are trying to build among the ruins. This honest and vivid book reads like the most captivating novel.
