to break through enemy defenses using all your skills, wit, and strategic thinking. Your persona in this digital world is represented by avatars – projections that managed to bypass the firewall protection. You will have to fight against ICE – adversaries that guard the entrance to the database. The game offers a variety of tactics and the invention of effective strategies, as well as several modes.
How to play?
Prepare the board and other components. The game consists of rounds, which follow one another. A round, in turn, consists of turns: the hackers' team (that is you) and the firewall. The gameplay can be divided into phases – based on the nature of the actions performed.
The hackers' turn is divided into:
Action phase, when you can execute everything you planned with your avatar
Configuration phase, when you can prepare your avatar for the next round and optimize your resources
Tracking phase, when you can track, that is, choose a node to later obtain the information stored within it
We will pay special attention to the action phase, as it is the main part of your turn. You have the following options available: movement with the potential to reveal and activate a new room, attack, shielding (that is, protection), configuration (resource optimization), infection (placing virus tokens, which you have a limited number of, in the database rooms; their number increases your threat level), exit (disconnecting the avatar from the system), reconnection, and enhancement (changing characteristics using appropriate chips and decks). The number of your actions is limited by the value of clicks in the processor slot, but you can choose the type yourself.
After the hackers' turn is over, each of you will play an activation card for ICE on the opponent's side. The enemy's strength and effectiveness will increase over the course of the game. ICE comes in different types, each of which is dangerous in its own way: bots – the simplest of them, but can overwhelm you with numbers, hunters present a greater danger, and guards are a sort of boss that appears in later stages. After ICE play, a new round begins.
Your task, as hackers, is to seize the information you are interested in. You will be able to determine what specific data you need thanks to the mission card.
Who won?
The player who is the first to collect all the necessary information tokens on their hard drive according to their mission card wins.
