Characters

This edition publishes the most famous of the works of the ancient Greek philosopher Theophrastus that have come down to us, which brought him fame through the ages - "Characters", a series of thirty sketches depicting typical representatives of some deficiency - flatterer, chatterbox, miser, braggart, gossip, supporter of oligarchy, etc. Together, they provide an insight into the life of Athenian citizens at the end of the 4th century BC.
