Nothing Costs So Much

The best detective in St. Petersburg, Lieutenant Colonel Goncharov, investigates the murder of the wife of the general director of a large enterprise. He manages to identify the criminal fairly quickly, but this is just the beginning of a grand case, after which the crime news program 'The City Has Accepted' should perhaps be renamed 'The City Has Shuddered.' Goncharov experiences a strange sensation: as if providence itself is urging him to unravel this story and is organizing random meetings and acquaintances, allowing him to gather crucial pieces of information.
