Behind You is the Sea

Before you is a story about Palestinian emigrants in America, presented in nine voices. They fled from war with no possibility of return, and now their children and grandchildren are growing up in the city of Baltimore, thousands of kilometers from their homeland. Some adapted to the local culture, while others stubbornly adhere to the traditions of their ancestors. Together with the characters, we attend weddings and funerals, observing the irreconcilable contradictions between fathers and children. The funny and touching stories of individual people are closely intertwined in the finale into the story of one large community, sensitively and attentively described by Susan Muaddi Darraj.
