History

Herodotus is an ancient Greek historian (5th century BC), the author of the famous book "Histories," which laid the foundation for historiographical science. Here are collected the well-known at that time information about the lands surrounding Ancient Greece and the peoples inhabiting them — information preserved by the author and became a primary source of knowledge about the ancient world for all humanity. The book contains numerous geographical, ethnographic, natural-historical, and literary facts about the Persian Empire, Egypt, Scythia, as well as other kingdoms and lands where the culture of the Western world was born and found its meaning.
