Opal Snake

Victorian England. Paul Bicott, the only heir of a provincial aristocrat, unable to tolerate the tyranny of his father and wishing to achieve fame in literature, goes to London. An enraged father denies him financial support, and Paul lives a modest life as a budding writer, which, however, does not prevent him from falling madly in love with the daughter of the owner of a second-hand bookstore. Events take an unexpected and dangerous turn when Paul's mother secretly sends him a golden Indian brooch in the shape of a snake inlaid with opals and diamonds without his father's knowledge. The brooch turns out to be the key to the mysterious and dark past of the bookseller, who has been trying to escape it for more than twenty years... The novel "The Piccadilly Mystery" is a dizzying investigation of a murder, the victim of which is found in the mist near the famous London street. Among the suspects are representatives of the aristocratic British elite, and Detective Dauker almost sends an innocent man to the gallows.
