This story is based on a beautiful but sad Japanese legend about the higanbana flower, which was once planted by the sun goddess Amaterasu in the Valley of High Heavens. She commanded two nature spirits, Manju and Syage, to guard... the flower, but they fell in love with each other, contrary to all heavenly laws. Enraged, Amaterasu punished them by separating the lovers forever. Only after death, in the realm of the dead Yomi, could they meet again. There, in the land of Yellow Waters, Manju and Syage promised to find each other in the next life to fully enjoy their feelings. They would have succeeded if it weren't for one lovesick kitsune - she also wants to be close to Manju. And she will stop at nothing.
