In the first half of the 1980s, D. A. Grigoryev was part of the literary group "Depressionists", which this book is about. "A Brief History of Depressionism" highlights the prerequisites for the emergence of this group, its flourishing, main program, and decline, therefore it can fully be called a manifesto.
