Impressions of my life

Princess Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva (1858–1928) is a famous philanthropist, educator and patron of the arts. She founded several drawing schools and colleges, revived the enamel business, and together with S.I. Mamontov published the magazine “World of Arts”. One of the main educational projects in Tenisheva’s life was Talashkino, an estate that she managed to turn into a center for the revival of folk culture.
“Impressions of my life” are the memoirs of a philanthropist, based on 35 diary notebooks and subsequently supplemented and finalized. They cover an interesting period in the history of pre-revolutionary culture - from the mid-1860s to New Year's Eve 1917. The heroes of the book were the brightest minds of the era, with whom fate generously endowed Tenisheva with acquaintance: Repin, Turgenev, Tchaikovsky, Svyatopolk-Chetvertinskaya, Mamontov, Vrubel, Korovin, Roerich, Benois, Diaghilev, Malyutin, Serov and many others.
