Essays on anthropological psychiatry

The book is devoted to a relatively new field of theoretical psychiatry - anthropological psychiatry. It consists of articles published over the past 20 years.

Anthropological psychiatry can be described as using the methods of cultural anthropology to describe the clinical situation. Such methods help provide a more nuanced approach to understanding the disease process; revive forgotten interest in the patient; take a fresh look at yourself: how and why I understand the situation the way I do, why and what I don’t understand. The meaning and context of many classical psychopathological phenomena become clearer and more transparent.
