In the board game "Find the Spy 2", you will be able to experience life as a spy for a certain government, as well as a special agent – a counter-spy – following their trail. This game belongs to the...
genre of salon games, meaning it resembles the well-known "Mafia", but does not require a separate player to act as a host; everyone will play! One or two players will take on the roles of spies, while all the others will try to identify them. A time limit for each round, numerous different roles and locations that the spy needs to figure out, and the overall excitement throughout the game will guarantee you an incredibly entertaining experience!
What's new?
"Find the Spy 2" is a standalone sequel to the sensational hit. In other words, you do not need the base version to play, but if you have it, you can combine them and significantly complicate the spy's life due to the vast diversity of cards, as the new version introduces a whole twenty new locations! Moreover, you can now gather up to twelve players in the game, and there can be as many as two spies! They can be from competing intelligence agencies or from the same agency – there are special rules for this.
How to play?
The game consists of a predetermined number of rounds set by the players, and the winner will be the one who accumulates the most points in total.
Each round begins with a drawing. The dealer takes a special bag containing location cards and spy cards. The cards are distributed face down, resulting in one player receiving the role of a spy, while all other players receive a location card for that round.
As mentioned above, the game is conducted in a conversational format. The spy's task is to discover where they are. They do not know, as they do not receive a location card. Other players are aware of it, but do not understand who among the present at the table is the spy, as the cards were distributed face down.
A specific amount of time is allocated for one round, for example, five minutes. How can players identify the location or spot the spy? By asking each other questions, of course! The first player can ask a question to any player. Typically, the question will pertain to a location known to them. It is preferable that the question is phrased in such a way that the spy does not understand which place is being referred to, while all others quickly grasp that the questioner is "one of their own". The answer to the question can be anything. After that, the respondent can ask a question to any player, except for the one who asked them – this restriction is necessary for all players to participate in the discussion.
By "dancing" around the topic in this manner, players probe for information, trying to determine who among them is the spy and start suspecting players. Here the spy will need to improvise; what if someone asks them a question? Or will they decide to question others themselves to gather some information or deflect suspicion? The spy needs to deduce where they are during all discussions and make a statement about it before they get caught!
Who won?
The game consists of rounds, with each round lasting several minutes. At the end of the round, the winners are determined, and victory points are awarded. The player who has accrued the most points across all rounds is declared the winner.
Each round can end in three ways:
When the timer runs out, all players must unanimously vote for the suspected spy, thus identifying them and winning the game. If the players are mistaken, the spy wins.
Any player (even the spy themselves) can initiate a vote for any candidate once per game, and if everyone unanimously votes for one player, the game ends in favor of that player.
The spy can stop the game and name the current location – if they guess correctly, they win.
Different methods of victory award different points. For example, a spy can earn as many as 4 points for a round if they stop the game themselves and correctly name the location.
Game features
Why did "Find the Spy" become a real sensation in 2014, rank among the top twenty games according to prestigious websites, and get translated into many languages? It's simple, because it's truly an amazing and unique game:
Simple rules and an engaging gameplay process allow people of different age groups and interests to sit together at one table.
A unique conversational gameplay experience – there is no host in the game, the spy must deduce their location and deflect suspicion from themselves, while the other players try to understand who the spy is by asking each other leading questions about the location. The game of cat and mouse continues until someone makes a mistake or makes a correct guess!
The spy theme will captivate any man, and the brave and romantic image of Bond will attract every woman!
Beyond all of this, the game perfectly trains memory, logic, deductive reasoning, sharp wit, reaction, cleverness, oratory skills, bluffing ability, and many other useful skills for a real spy!
