Igor Viktorovich Dolgopolov (1917–1991) — Honored Artist of the RSFSR, art historian, writer, educator, chief artist of the most popular magazine during the Soviet era, "Ogonyok". A student of A. Deineka, he was a person of truly the scale of Giorgio Vasari, someone who spent his life creating a unified image of world art. His essays on great creators, later compiled into books titled "Masters and Masterpieces," were published in massive editions during the author's lifetime. Written in an easy style, with extraordinary intuition and genuine talent, they represented captivating stories that vividly revealed the characters and creative manner of the artists, detailing their world-famous canvases.
